FFXI: Targeting "0","Targeting" "1","Target Cursor" &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Targeting&style; &style=spacer01; &style;  In FINAL FANTASY XI, you can place your cursor over other characters, objects, and doorways. This is called "targeting." Targeting is used to initiate actions in the game, including speaking to PCs (player characters) and NPCs (non-player characters), and attacking monsters. &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Target Cursor&style; &style=spacer01; &style;  To target something, you must first display the target cursor. You can make the cursor appear by pressing [Confirm/Enter] or direction buttons/keys. &style=spacer02; &style; The target cursor will appear over the currently selected target. The name of the selected target will appear above the status bar at the lower right of the screen. &pre=01; You can select from a group of targets by using the  direction buttons/keys or the 0 key. When the target cursor  is highlighting the target you wish to select, press  [Confirm/Enter]. &pre=01; If the target is a PC or monster, the action command  menu will appear, allowing you to initiate a variety of actions.  NPCs, doorways, or other objects are activated when the Confirm Button or Enter key is pressed. The names of PCs appear in white. &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3; < NPCs (Non-Player Characters) >&style;  Characters that are controlled by the computer. They respond in various ways when you talk to them. The names of NPCs appear in green. &style=spacer02; &style; &style=Tk15w_3; < Monsters >&style;  Vana'diel is filled with many kinds of monsters. The names of monsters appear in yellow. When they are targeted, the action command menu will  include an "Attack" command. &pre=01; The names of monsters currently being fought by you or a  member of your party will appear in red. The names of monsters being fought by other PCs or by a  member of your alliance will appear in purple.
