Select "Items" from the main menu or the action command menu. Then, select a Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Thunder, Water, Light, or Dark crystal and press the Confirm button or Enter key. The item synthesis window will appear at the upper left of the screen. &pre=01; The item synthesis window contains eight empty slots. Follow a synthesis recipe to select the ingredients, and press "OK" to begin the process. If your synthesis is successful, you will create the item indicated by the recipe. If you fail, you may lose the crystal and the ingredients. &style=spacer01; &style; &style=Ty15_2; *For more information about synthesis recipes, please refer to page 8 of this section.&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Please be aware that some synthesis recipes require a specific level to begin the process. If you are not of that level, you may be unable to use the recipe. &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Craft Skills&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Craft skills are divided into categories according to the types of items that they can create. &style=spacer01; &style; 《A List of Craft Skills》

&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3; Synthesis Recipes&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Recipes specify the various items needed to synthesize new items. Each recipe differs in level of difficulty. Even within the same rank, however, some recipes are harder to complete than others. Pay close attention when trying them for the first time. If your character's skill rank is lower than the one required for the recipe, you will be unable to begin the synthesis process. &pre=01; If you make a mistake in preparing the ingredients for a recipe, you will receive a message stating that the synthesis was unsuccessful. If your skill level is too low for the recipe, you will receive a message stating that the recipe is too difficult for you to undertake. &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Guilds&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Guilds are located in the cities of nations such as San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst. Guilds are divided into various specialties. At the guild for a particular craft skill, you can purchase ingredients needed for synthesis, learn about recipes, take skill tests, and more. Additionally, you can join a guild by speaking to one of the NPCs (non-player characters) there. &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Image Support&style; &style=spacer01; &style; If you have joined a guild, you can receive a service called "image support" by speaking to a certain NPC there. By paying a certain fee to these individuals, you can temporarily raise the probability of successfully synthesizing items in that field. &pre=01; *When you receive image support, a message will appear in your log window, and a special status effect icon will appear at the top of the screen. &style=spacer01; &style; *For more information about status effects, please refer to the Status Effects topic in the Battles section.&style; &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3; Signatures&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Certain items are imprinted with their creator's name if synthesized using a special crystal. Signatures are retained after trading, purchase from bazaar, and post box delivery. If your signed item is purchased at the auction house, it will lose its signature, but if it fails to sell, it will be returned to your residence with the signature intact. &pre=01; -Inferno crystal: Same effect as a fire crystal -Glacier crystal: Same effect as an ice crystal -Cyclone crystal: Same effect as a wind crystal -Terra crystal: Same effect as an earth crystal -Plasma crystal: Same effect as a lightning crystal -Torrent crystal: Same effect as a water crystal -Aurora crystal: Same effect as a light crystal -Twilight crystal: Same effect as a dark crystal &pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Guild Contracts&style; &style=spacer01; &style; Players will be asked to provide the guild with a certain item depending on their craft skill rank. There is a set time limit (one day, Earth time) in which players may bring as many of the item as they can synthesize. &style=spacer01; &style; Trading these items will earn players "guild points" which can be later exchanged for other specialty goods--some of which are exclusive to certain guilds. &pre=01; [Contract Agreements]&style; &style=spacer01; &style; If a player has achieved at least "novice" status in any guild, they can speak with a member of the Guildworkers' Union (located in or near all guilds) to form a contract. However, players can only form contracts with one guild at a time, and joining a second guild will result in a loss of all guild points accumulated at the previous guild. &pre=01; [Guild Points]&style; &style=spacer01; &style; The item requested by the guild changes once every Earth day, and the amount of guild points players will receive for exchanging a product varies with the item. Also, there is a limit to how many points players can accumulate during the designated time frame. Trading items after the time limit will result in no points gained.
