&pre=01; Vana'diel's three nations of
San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst
enjoy friendly relations, but behind
the scenes, the three share a
desire to expand their respective
territories. No country has attempted to expand into the
territory of another as of yet, but gaining and maintaining
control over contested regions has taken on a special
importance to the nations. That is where you as a PC
(player character) enter the picture.
&pre=01; Suppose that your character defeats a monster in one of
these contested regions. You will gain experience and gil
as usual. Behind the scenes, however, the three countries
are locked into competition for control of the region.
This competition, which is based on the battles of player
characters, is referred to as the "conquest."
When you defeat a monster while under the effect of a
Signet (for more information about Signets, please refer to
the "Signets" section), the region you are in will receive
a certain number of points corresponding to the number of
experience points that have been obtained.
&pre=01; This means that if your allegiance is to San d'Oria, the
points will be added to San d'Oria's influence point total
(known as region points) for that region. These points are
recalculated after a certain period of time, and the country
that shows the strongest power in the region will gain
control of it. Furthermore, an average point value is
calculated based on the number of players who contributed
to the total. These two point calculations are then combined
to yield the world rankings for the three nations of
Vana'diel.
&pre=01;&style=Ty15; *For more information about regions, please refer to the
"Game Basics" section.
*Total Points:
A total of points for each region is calculated on a weekly
basis. When the calculation begins, a message will appear
in the log window. Another message will appear when the
calculation is complete and the outcome is announced.&style;
&pre=01; The conquest is ongoing. You can attempt to bolster your
country's standing in different regions, or focus on
missions and quests instead. It's all up to you.
&style=spacer01; &style;
Obtaining a Signet is all you have to do to join the
conquest. You will participate simply by defeating monsters
in a given region. However, you should use the "Region Info"
command to determine the appropriate location for fighting,
as you will get more points for defeating monsters in
regions that are under the control of other countries.
&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Signet&style;
&style=spacer01; &style;
&pre=01; You can receive a Signet by
speaking to your nation's
gatehouse guards and outpost
guards.
Signet remains active for a certain
period of time depending on your
mission rank and the conquest ranking of your nation.
Once that period of time has elapsed, the Signet will no
longer be effective.
&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Conquest Points&style;
&style=spacer01; &style;
&pre=01; As you gain experience while under
the effect of Signet, you will be
contributing to your nation's
Region Points in your current area.
A portion of the experience points
that you gain while under the effect of a Signet are
designated as your conquest points.
&pre=01; Conquest points indicate a character's level of contribution
to their nation. You can view your current conquest points
at any time by selecting "Region Info" from the main menu.
After accumulating conquest points, it is possible to
exchange these points for weapons, armor, and items by
speaking with the conquest guards in each nation.
The higher the quality, the higher the mission rank and
the number of conquest points will be required to
purchase the item. The conquest items available vary for
each nation, although it is also possible to purchase items
from non-allegiance nations that are lower in the conquest
ranking. (Not all items are available, however.)
&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Donating Equipment&style;
&style=spacer01; &style;
&pre=01; Another way of contributing to your nation's conquest is to
trade weapons and armor to the merchants found at the
Outpost for each region. Your nation will receive region
points based on the value of the items donated.
&style=spacer01; &style;
&style=Ty15_2; *Individual conquest points will not be received when
donating items.
*Selling items to the Outpost merchants will not gain region
points for your nation.&style;
&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Supplies Quest&style;
&style=spacer01; &style;
&pre=01; Speak to a conquest guard to undertake a supplies quest to
Outposts in regions under your nation's control.
Conquest points will be received upon completing the
supplies quest, with the amount depending on the region
to which the supplies were delivered. It is only possible
to undertake one supplies quest per Vana'diel day.
The menu for selecting a specific supplies quest will have
a label next to the names of regions already completed.
&pre=01;&style=Tk15w_3;&image=ng01;Regional Teleporting&style;
&style=spacer01; &style;
&pre=01; Members of the Specialty Goods
Trade Union have been dispatched
to the Outposts of each region.
For a fee, these members offer
teleportation services back and
forth between the nation of your allegiance to an Outpost
under the control of one of the three nations.
&pre=01; The following conditions must be met in order to utilize
regional teleportation services.
&style=spacer01; &style;
When teleporting from the nation of your allegiance to an
Outpost:
&style=spacer01; &style;
-You must have completed a supplies quest to the region to
which you wish to teleport
-The region must be under the control of one of the three
nations
-You must meet the minimum level requirement set for the
region in question
&pre=01; When teleporting from each region to the nation of your
allegiance:
&style=spacer01; &style;
-You must meet the minimum level requirement set for the
region in question
&style=spacer02; &style;
Utilizing the regional teleportation service incurs a fee.
This fee varies depending on the region and the region's
current control situation.
Also, it should be noted that the record for completing
supplies quests is deleted upon changing nationality.
These quests will have to be repeated in order to utilize
regional teleportation services.
