Building the user interface

You can use Taligent UI Builder, a visual GUI builder, to add controls and decorations such as buttons, scrolling regions, and borders to your application's main view. You can also use it to create user interface elements that are not part of the component's main view, such as menus and dialogs.

Aspects of the user interface that aren't graphical, such as special handling of mouse and keyboard input, require that you add code to your main view class. You also have to write user interface code if you want to draw custom graphics or use interface elements that Taligent UI Builder does not support directly.

NOTE Until the 1.0 production release of the CommonPoint application system is available, the format of Taligent UI Builder object archives is subject to change. In the meantime, every time you save a Taligent UI Builder archive, you should also export the Taligent UI Builder document. Exporting the document saves the archive in a text format that is portable across releases.
