Understanding the data transfer protocol

The Record Source framework is a data transfer protocol that supports the transfer of records between objects acting as data sources and objects that can absorb record sources. Source objects and sink objects are isolated by the Record Source framework and require no communication with each other besides that supported by the framework itself.
