Guide to Distributed Computing
Distributed Computing describes frameworks and services used to distribute applications across multiple computers. This book assumes familiarity with the frameworks and systems necessary to create a complete CommonPoint program.
Distributed Computing is divided into four parts:
- Part 1, "SQL Data Access Services," describes how to use SQL Data Access Services to write applications that insert and retrieve data to and from standard, commercial SQL databases.
- Part 2, "Caucus framework," describes how to use the Caucus framework to implement a one-to-many communications relationship between a group of clients.
- Part 3, "Remote object services," describes how to use RPC Services to implement remote member function calls using a client-server model and a request-reply interface.
- Part 2, "Licensing services," describes how to use the Licensing Service facilities to enable only authorized users of your products to run the software in the CommonPoint application system.
