Non-stop operation
Because the IEEE standards define the result of every operation, computation in the Common Point application system proceeds with as meaningful and safe a result as possible. This is better than the historical approach of stopping on (presumably) serious errors like overflow and divide-by-zero. Use the mechanism described in "Handling floating-point exceptions" on page 241 to handle floating-point exceptions dynamically.
