Typographical conventions

To distinguish sample code, commands, filenames, directory names, keywords, and syntax from text, this publication uses the Taligent Mono Regular font.

Note that class names and member function names are not called out in a different font.

Italics are used for emphasis.

To distinguish pertinent points from the body text, this publication uses the following styles:

NOTE To point out pertinent information and asides.

TIP To indicate helpful points and techniques.

CAUTION To warn when an action could result in lost data or damaged equipment.

To distinguish procedural steps from the body text, this book uses a numbered-step format, for example:

  1. Open the document.
  2. Type in text.
  3. Close the document.
