A link allows data transfer between two points and is used to maintain the same data in more than one location. Users traverse links from the destination to the source by clicking on the link loop.
A reference supports navigation between related data. Users traverse references by clicking on the link arrow. When a user traverses a reference, the data can be displayed in a separate window, or replace the current context.
