Accessing properties

The File System interface implements properties in a way that makes it easy for you to access and modify standard properties. TFileSystemEntity defines the member functions you use for reading and writing the properties defined by the file system. Each of the file system entity classes also include accessor functions for their corresponding properties, as well as identifiers you can use to read properties.

A file system property is no different from any other CommonPoint application system property. The only difference in using file system properties is that this interface provides you with easy ways of accessing predefined properties through file system entities. You can define your own properties for file system entities.

The File System interface uses property sets and property queries to accomplish various tasks. If you are not familiar with these concepts, read Chapter 5, "Properties" in Foundation Services.
