Question:
A number of enhancement were made to the JNI Spec in JDK 1.2. These include support for such things as accessing substrings from native code, weak global references, and finer-grained control over local references. Does Symbian OS support these enhancements?

Yes, from v6.0 of Symbian OS, JNI programmers can take advantage of all the API enhancements described at http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/docs/guide/jni/jni-12.html.
