Table 2: PtiEngine API definitions
PtiEngine |
Predictive Text Input Engine |
Multitapping |
The conventional text input method for mobile phones where often several
key presses are required to insert a single character.
|
Predictive text input |
Text input method where the text input software tries
to guess the correct words simultaneously when the user is typing them. Its
purpose is to decrease the number of required key presses and to make text
input faster and easier.
|
Input sequence |
The sequence of key presses. PtiEngine may produce several candidate
words for a single input sequence.
|
Word completion |
When this feature is available and the activated PtiEngine predicts
complete words even when the input sequence contains less key presses than
the number of characters in the predicted word.
|
Next word prediction |
PtiEngine tries to predict the next word that is entered after the
current word.
|
Reordering |
The Reordering feature means that PtiEngine remembers what words the
user has recently entered and lifts those words to the top of the candidate
list.
