SQLDAS usage considerations

• SQLDAS is intended for use with legacy data stored in SQL databases.
• Hidden master surrogates and forwarded methods appear extensively throughout SQLDAS. The surrogate class instances are counted pointers to the hidden master-class instances. When the reference count reaches zero, the dynamically allocated, hidden master is deleted. Clients should use surrogate classes only. Providers might need to derive from both a master class and its surrogate, forwarding any new member functions into the derived surrogate class.
• SQLDAS is not multi-thread safe. Client applications must assume the burden of managing thread integrity.
• Client applications optimized for throughput should limit the use of record instances because the time and space cost associated with these can grow prohibitively if records are used to excess.
• SQLDAS is reentrant. A single thread can have multiple connections to the same datastore.
