Drag and Drop framework

Figure 54 illustrates a typical drag and drop interaction driven by a pointing device gesture.

A drag and drop item is an object that represents the entity that is being carried from one place to another in the course of the interaction. A drag source is the desktop user interface context where the item comes from, that is, the entity that makes an item available for dragging; a drop acceptor is a potential destination where the user might drop the item to complete the interaction.

A well behaved drag source shows feedback for what is being dragged. In this example the Graphics stationery is darkened. Also, a well behaved drop acceptor shows acceptance feedback. In this case the folder content area is framed with a thicker frame than normal. These things are not done automatically by the framework.
