Using commands with selections

Document data may only be modified by commands. This is necessary to support collaboration, recovery, and undo. A command encapsulates a change to a target. The target is the object upon which the command operates. One possible target would be a selection.

The Compound Document framework provides mixin classes to support protocol for the exchange of data between selection objects. These mixin classes are devoted to data use and provide a suite of commands.
