Experimenting with the applications

Mars and Jupiter let you interactively draw, edit, and manipulate graphical shapes on a drawing surface called a canvas. Click on the right arrow on the name to choose a menu from the menu palette. The menu you select displays against the right side of the menu palette. Move the menu palette with the mouse. Your selected menu stays with the palette. If you choose another menu, that menu displays in place of the existing menu. To keep the menu, use the mouse to move the menu away from the palette to any location on the CommonPoint system screen and then choose another menu from the menu palette. By moving and choosing menus, you can display all menus on the palette as shown in Figure 2.

You use the graphic creation tools from the Tool menu to draw graphics onto a drawing surface called a canvas. The Arrow tool lets you select and manipulate the canvas graphics or create text. The Color and Pen menus let you apply color and line width to the selected graphics. The Text menu lets you select, edit, and manipulate text as you create it with the Text tool.

After you've created a graphic or text, use the Arrow tool from the Tool menu to select a graphic. Click on a graphic to select it and deselect others. When you select a graphic, GrafEdit highlights that item with a feedback graphic so you can manipulate your selected graphic. The feedbacker associated with the graphic lets you move, stretch, or rotate the graphic. You can change pen width and frame and fill color of your graphics by selecting options from the Color and Pen menus. Use options from the Text menu to change the paragraph, character and font styles for your text graphics.
