Backface Culling

The term "backface" refers to the surfaces that face the back of a scene. Backface culling is the process of removing all backface surfaces before the scene is shaded and rendered. By default, backface culling is set to True so that all backface surfaces are removed for shading and rendering.

The position of the camera divides the 3-D graphic into front facing to the projection plane and back facing to the projection plane. Only the front facing is seen by the person viewing the graphic. The backface culling functions let you determine whether the front facing and back facing portions are drawn, or only the front facing. By default, only the front facing portion is drawn. See the heading "Backface Culling" on page 322 for information on the backface culling functions.

Figure 207 shows the TGrafBundle3D functions for backface culling.
