2D images and pictures
2-D images and pictures have the same application programming interface (API) and are described together. They both, however, have different uses as follows:
- A 2-D image is a device-independent, pixel-based graphic. You draw 2-D graphics into an image port where they are converted from world-coordinate units to pixels. A 2-D image is transformed and hit tested as a single unit.
- A 2-D picture lets you make a composite drawing of graphics that is transformed and hit tested as a single unit. A picture is equivalent to MS Windows metafiles or Macintosh pictfiles.
