People elements

People elements are objects that provide a consistent representation of people throughout the CommonPoint human interface. The user's attributes are represented in the interface through such objects as a business card and a person icon. Collections of People elements can be organized into network phone books and group icons. By encapsulating the information needed for communication and collaboration into one or two objects, these objects provide the basis for working with others.

The range of applications built from People elements can encompass the entire range of collaboration and communication. These elements can be used for authentication, real-time collaboration, addressing electronic mail, initiating a telephone call, communicating by video conference, scheduling a meeting, and sharing information. Because all applications will use these elements consistently, users can more readily take advantage of collaborative features.
