Performing a
complete restart
If you perform a session restart and the problem persists:
- Perform a deep clean.
If the system is too messed up to complete this step, skip to the next step.
- Reboot the system.
You can reboot the system in one of two ways:
/etc/shutdown -r now
- Press the yellow button inside the CPU box front panel door. This procedure is much faster and generally works just fine due to IBM's journaled file system, but there is always some risk of data loss.
In cases where the system is completely hung, this procedure is your only option.
