Menus

A menu control contains a collection of menu items which it presents in a list. The user uses the mouse to select one of the menu items. The menu items are themselves controls which have specific behaviors.

Menus support the four standard control layouts (top to bottom, bottom to top, left to right and right to left). But also, the menu items in a menu also support the four different layouts (where each item in a given menu has to have the same layout). This means there is 16 combinations of layouts possible. This also means there is no separate menu bar class since a horizontal menu bar is just one of the many layouts supported. Figure 49 shows some of the layouts that menus support.
