Trash

The Trash is a special folder-like appliance that contains objects marked for deletion. The Trash is a useful holding area for objects the user no longer needs. It lets the user defer the decision to actually delete the objects. The user has complete control over what goes into the Trash and when the Trash's contents are emptied.

The user can drag an object to the Trash when it is closed. (The user can also select the object and choose Move to Trash from the Special menu.) Notice that the Trash behaves like a standard container in that it accepts objects while it is open or closed and its contents are revealed by opening it.

To permanently delete an object that has been moved to the Trash (and reclaim its disk space), the user chooses Empty Trash from the Special menu.
