Default text
editing behavior
The document component created by the default model and presenter state provides a single rectangular input area with a fixed width and a potentially infinite length, and a set of standard menus for typical text operations. When the USA locale is active, the default initial typing styles for a text document component are the TaligentSans font, at point size 13.0, in black (the default point size will probably change to 12.0 in later releases).
The standard interface for an editable text component provides these formatting and editing capabilities:
- Placing the cursor and selecting text by clicking and dragging the mouse
- Selecting words by double-clicking the mouse and selecting sentences by triple-clicking the mouse
- Extending selections by dragging the mouse with the Shift key pressed
- Automatic font substitution for all input text
- Device-independent line wrapping and device-dependent spacing
- Cutting, copying, and pasting of text selections within the document or between documents
- Selecting or deleting all text currently in the document
- Freely intermixing characters from any script by changing the active typing configuration
- Applying different combinations of character styles from character to character and applying paragraph styles such as line spacing and margin width
- Moving the insertion point with the cursor (arrow) keys
- Autopositioning
- Basic pagination for printed documents
